About us

Advokatbyrå Carlsson Wingert is a law firm based in Åland, Finland. We offer legal services to companies, authorities, municipalities and private individuals. Our employees have long and versatile experience of qualified legal advice in most areas of law.

The basis for our legal service is Finnish and Åland law. We also cooperate with advisers outside Åland and can therefore offer cohesive legal expertise in cases of a cross-border nature.

For us, quality and commitment are keywords and our way of working has resulted in lasting and strong customer relationships.

The firm was founded in Mariehamn in 1988 and was previously called Uotila & Mattsson. Since 2020, we operate under the name Advokatbyrå Carlsson Wingert.

Members of the Finnish Bar Association

The titles advokat (attorney-at-law) and advokatbyrå are protected by law and can only be used by lawyers accepted into the Finnish Bar Association.

Our attorneys are members of the Finnish Bar Association and are thus obliged to follow law and the Code of Conduct for attorneys-at-law in their activities.

Our services

Company law

We assist companies and institutions with all kinds of company law matters, such as establishment, corporate structure, corporate governance and ownership, liability issues, mergers and divisions. We also assist with planning, structuring and advice for generational change within companies. We also undertake board assignments in companies.

Contract law

We assist our customers with the preparation, review and negotiation of commercial agreements, such as shareholder agreements, lease agreements, construction agreements, cooperation agreements, leasing agreements, purchase agreements and general terms and conditions regarding sales and purchases, etc.

Maritime and transport law

We offer advice on logistics and freight agreements, registration, re-flagging, purchase and sale, transport damage liability, insurance issues, and assist in maritime and transport-related disputes.

Tort law

We handle cases and processes regarding damages within contractual relationships as well as non-contractual liability for damages.

Public procurement

We assist both customers and suppliers in matters relating to public procurement and assist in all parts of the procurement process as well as with general advice regarding the public procurement legislative framework.

Administrative law

We assist clients in matters and matters attributable to the provincial, municipal and state authorities both as advisors and as representatives in administrative processes; for example concerning different types of permits.

Data protection and privacy

We handle matters within data protection and privacy, such as issues concerning the application of the Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and conclusion of data processing agreements. We can also act as external data protection officer for our clients.

Disputes and conflicts

We represent our clients in dispute resolution both outside and in court. We handle litigation in general courts, administrative courts and special courts, both in commercial disputes and as counsel for the injured party in criminal cases.

Labour law

We assist with advice regarding, for example, commencement and termination of employment, preparation of employment contracts, reorganizations and dismissals, protection of trade secrets, rights and obligations for employers and employees and contract interpretation.

Real estate and construction law

We assist clients with advice regarding, for example, property purchases, building permits, road rights, property defects, leases and rent, as well as questions about Åland's land acquisition legislation. We also handle issues relating to contracts and the construction industry's standard agreements. Further, we participate in cadastral procedures and represent clients in cases in land court. The firm's partner attorney-at-law Andreas Carlsson is also a public purchase witness.

Family and estate law

We assist individuals in family law matters, such as in drawing up prenuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements, distribution of matrimonial assets after divorce, and drawing up wills and handling a broad range of matters relating to inheritance law. We regularly undertake assignments as administrators of estate, estate distributors and executors of testaments.

Liquidation and bankruptcy

We assist at the end of a company's life cycle, both in the event of liquidation and bankruptcy, and undertake assignments as liquidators and bankruptcy trustees.
